VAUDE has developed an innovative pad construction in which Primaloft Infinity, a high loft, continuous filament insulation, is welded to the outer materials using a baffle construction. Cold points are completely avoided because the welding points are offset rather than directly opposite one other throughout the pad. In addition, the fiber is coated by a wafer-thin silicon layer that includes a small percentage of silver. This finish has an antibacterial effect and guarantees that the padding stays dry and is made to last.
The Primaloft padding creates an insulation layer inside the mattress that interrupts the air flow between the ground and your body, keeping cold air from penetrating through the pad and reflecting body warmth from the top back upward again. This allows the pad to warm up noticeably faster.
The new pad construction also increases stability and sleeping comfort. Katrin Boharski, VAUDE Product Manager for Insulation Pads and Sleeping Bags reports, “As a side sleeper, I usually get sore hips from sleeping on a foam pad, but I can sleep wonderfully in any position on the Norrsken.” Two large outer chambers ensure additional comfort and keep active sleepers from rolling off the side. The pad is made from a lightweight 30D material with a comfortable textile structure on the top and a tough 75D material on the bottom, so that the pad can be safely used on uneven surfaces.
Mark Kaminski, Primaloft Territory Manager, Central Europe is enthusiastic: “An exceptional product. The Norrsken is one of the rare true innovations that I’ve seen up to now in an extensive career at Primaloft. Congratulations!”
