It’s a partnership that has enormous potential, as VAUDE Executive Manager Dr. Antje von Dewitz is pleased to report: “With our new, long-term cooperation, we aim to work together to inspire more people’s enthusiasm for nature, stop the destruction of nature and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.”
WWF effectively contributes in key ecological regions to the conservation of biological diversity and of Nature’s uniqueness and beauty. In Germany, the WWF is particularly active in protecting the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, as well as coastal regions, river systems, wetlands and forests so that endangered species such as the wolf, lynx, bear, fish otter, eagle and sturgeon can populate these natural habitats undisturbed and live there as respected inhabitants and indicators of an intact nature. Annette Herr, WWF Senior Manager Corporate Relations states clearly: “National and international WWF projects prove that the preservation and responsible use of the natural foundation of life is compatible with sustainable, economic development. We are pleased to have found such an exemplary partner in VAUDE for our work.”
Green Shape is VAUDE’s quality label for products that feature special ecological manufacturing. The criteria for this label are very strict: only products that are made of at least 90% organic cotton or recycled materials, colored using the eco-friendly VAUDE eColour dyeing process or made to conform to the world’s most stringent textile standard bluesign® earn the Green Shape quality label. Over 30% of all products in VAUDE’s Winter 11/12 Collection bear the Green Shape label. VAUDE’s goal is to raise this percent to a total of 75% within the next 5 years, to 80% in the Apparel Collection and to 100% in the Kids’ Collection.
We’re searching for four athletic, dedicated environmentalists between the ages of 18 and 24 who want to immerse themselves in the Alps from May 15 – 28 for the WWF-VAUDE Alpine Camp. These four will have a chance to experience the beauty as well as the threat posed to the unique natural habitat in Germany, Austria and Slovenia up close and personal. Accompanied by VAUDE and WWF environmental experts as well as Alp scientists, they will explore the mountains and white water rivers in these regions on mountain bikes, paragliders and kayaks, reporting daily through video blogs and photo streams, inspiring others to contribute to the conservation of the Alps.
In addition to financial support and joint events, the WWF also serves as an expert advisor to VAUDE on environmental subjects within the framework of our partnership. This, for example, has led to the development of a joint paper policy in which VAUDE has pledged to only use recycled paper or FSC certified paper.
